One Stop Road Renewal

Situated on the borders of Knowsley Council, Cartbridge Lane is a busy road that is used as a route through
a new housing estate. With more developments due to start in the area it was imperative to get the work
complete efficiently and as quickly as possible.

Road Upgrade

Construction of the new A556 link road, between the M56 and the M6, started in November 2014 and will open to traffic in March 2017. The existing A556 will then be made into a single carriageway road with facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. The scheme is part of a £15 billion government investment in motorways and major A roads by 2021 which is being delivered by Highways England as part of the Northern Powerhouse initiative.

Road Marking Maintenance Scheme

M56 Junctions 14 to 15 is a busy, 2.5 mile stretch of motorway that is used as a constant passage for commuters and travellers between the Welsh border to Manchester, Liverpool, Liverpool Airport and the North West area in general.

New Infrastructure

The Mersey Gateway Project is a £600M landmark civil engineering infrastructure project that includes a new six-lane toll bridge over the River Mersey between the towns of Runcorn and Widnes. The new bridge will provide a second road crossing over the Mersey, 1.5km to the east of the congested and ageing Silver Jubilee Bridge, and form the centrepiece of a new and improved high standard link road that connects the national motorway network at
Junction 12 of the M56 in North Cheshire with the A562 Speke Road in Merseyside.
