Product Description

TexBand is a screed applied two-part banding system consisting of a plasticized rosin ester binder blended with thermoplastic rubber and acetate co-polymer incorporating selected high PSV aggregate (Calcined Bauxite or Granite) fused to a specially formulated polymerised bituminous sealant.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

TexBand can permanently and economically repair cracks, seams and joints in all black-top highway surfaces up to 40mm wide with standard 150/200mm surface band widths. It is designed to have a high surface skid resistance value throughout its extended life. It is suitable for use on bends, roundabouts and can even be used to repair Clause 924 High Friction Surfacing when combined with calcined bauxite for maximum skid resistance. TexBand can also be used to repair potholes, and cracks wider than 40mm if required.

ADVANTAGES & BENEFITS

TexBand has several advantages over competing systems.

  • Application is less susceptible to weather extremes.
  • Better cost effectiveness.
  • Can be laid all year round.
  • Rapid curing, typically 15 minutes after completion.
  • Highest Skid Resistance for added safety.
  • Quicker application minimises disruption and traffic management costs.
  • Environmentally friendly, no waste for landfill and no loose chippings.

AGGREGATE

TexBand 2 is available in two grades, Standard and High Friction (HF).

Standard TexBand incorporates 2-3mm Grey Granite Aggregate.

  • Polished Stone Value (PSV) 62+
  • Typical Aggregate Abrasion Value (AAV) 4.6

TexBand (HF) incorporates 1-3mm Grey Calcined Bauxite Aggregate.

  • Polished Stone Value (PSV) 70+
  • Typical Aggregate Abrasion Value (AAV) 4

PERFORMANCE

TexBand’s combination of macro and micro texture is designed to optimise initial and long term skid resistance. Texture Depth*

TexBand application ensures a minimum Texture Depth of 1.5mm

*Based on the average of a minimum of 10 readings by the Sand-Patch Method, as defined in BS 598-105:2000, at equally spaced intervals along the length of TexBand being assessed,.

  • Skid Resistance Value*
  • Standard TexBand SRV 60+
  • TexBand (HF) SRV 65+
  • *Measured by Pendulum Tester to TRRL Road Note 27:1969.

PACKAGING

  • TexBand 1 is supplied in 25kg silicone lined multi-ply paper sacks, 40 bags per tonne on a shrink-wrapped pallet.
  • TexBand 2 is supplied in 25kg meltable bags, 40 sacks per tonne on a shrink-wrapped pallet.

SPREAD RATES

Spread rates will vary according to the road surface texture and crack width. A typical guideline for a standard 150mm band width is 1.0kg per linear metre for TexBand 1 and 1.7kg per linear metre for TexBand 2.

APPLICATION

TexBand should be applied according to the relevant HITEX Method Statement. It can be trafficked once it has cooled to 35°c, typically 15 minutes after the final application. This period may need to be extended in very hot weather.

COLOUR

TexBand 2’s standard colour is black but it can be produced in a range of colours including buff, red and green, but it is important to appreciate that traces of black TexBand 1 may be visible above the sealed crack.
